RDB Star Rating

The RDB annual assessment is both holistic & objective and takes between two to five days, depending on the registration category and size of the home. Our model is client focused in its approach, responsive to the home’s client group.  Our inspections encompass a diverse range of care standards, ranging from the way personal care is delivered, to the management of the home and its personnel.

The RDB Model evaluates homes against more than 200 RDB care standards, collecting 10 to 16 items of evidence for each standard.  These care standards are drawn from best practice research across the care sector and are tempered by what is realistic and achievable, thus reflecting what good care providers do naturally. All RDB standards have been cross referenced with the CQC standards and KLOE’s.

Homes receive valuable feedback, including graphs from resident and staff surveys, to guide business improvement and growth and assist with the motivation and retention of staff.   Successful homes are awarded a star rating of between two and five stars.

RDB Products and Assessments are certified by UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service), to the international and European standard ISO/IEC 17020:2012, for inspection bodies.  We were delighted to be the UK’s first organisation to be awarded this international accreditation, for the inspection of residential care homes, which demonstrates our quality, transparency and commitment to the care sector.
